Attractions in Pensacola
Historic Pensacola Village
The Historic Pensacola Village contains an interesting collection of mostly 19th-century buildings housing museums with indoor and outdoor exhibits. Guides in amusing period costume lead walking tours along an 'archaeological' trail, telling stories from Florida and Pensacola history.
National Museum of Naval Aviation
This is one of the best air museums in the world. Its exhibits (such as prisoner-of-war artefacts) are enlightening, and the museum's IMAX theater shows several thrilling, G-pulling aviation films on high rotation. There over 170 aircraft on display and tours are led by retired airmen.
Pensacola Museum of Art
About 18 exhibitions a year are mounted at this museum housed in the old jail (1906-08), and could feature anything from Rodin sculptures to a pop-culture collection of lunch boxes. Its growing permanent collection includes major 20th- and 21st-century artists across genres including cubism, realism, pop art and folk art.
